CJ dreams of the old days...

This will be the last strip done digitally, I cant quite get the control I like and I miss that pen line I used to get.  I want to still try to find a way to add color to the mix, though.

Winter Quarter has started and it is that time when a young man's free time turns to late nights and discussion questions...

Trying out that digital style so more.  It has it's pros and cons but I really miss the particular line I was able to get from pen on paper.  This is also an important emotional scene so I really want it to play.  Will consider how to move on...

Recap

Here is a recap and I both love and am a little dissapointed in the layout. 

I love Michelle's acting and the fact that it has color.  I also love how God set it up so that I could include Pushy, therefore kind of introducing him into the world officially.

Layout wise, this is sloppy.  And probably way too big for most to read depending on their device of choice. 

I went ahead and finished this one but expect a more consistent viewer friendly layout even if it means I (may) have to sacrifice size. 

I'm excited to be able to keep the story going in a forward direction now and look forward to establishing a more unified and hopefully more engaging strip.

A little Different...

This strip was made entirely using the computer.  An experiment to find the most productive way to produce strips and use all the tech I have at my disposal.  It's nice to be able to add color. 

Another couple of new characters here but I'm still playing with them a little.

Another thing to add, as I finished this I realized that subconsciously this strip owes so much to 'Calvin and Hobbes' its not even funny. Anyone who's read Calvin and Hobbes extensively will see it, I think.  I guess our inspirations creep out of us in different ways, thanks Mr. Watterson.

The Past: CJ and Clevon.

This is a look at CJ's past, an experience that influences his present.  I think the narrative could be clearer but hope that at least the idea comes across. I hope to explore his character in looking at some of the experiences that have led to his current attitude.  It will be interesting to see a different side of his character as well.  Introducing: Clevon Little.

Shinin'

A little late but nonetheless in memory of Pastor Chuck Smith.

A faithful pastor and Teacher who started the Calvary Chapel movement and by God's grace a revival in the 70's of which I, and many countless others, am the fruit.

From his writing and teaching I learned what Grace really meant.
And I learned that following God is done honestly and in God's strength.

He has entered into his reward now :)

Surprised to find that my Prismacolor Markers still work and so am looking forward to giving color a try. 

Am dedicated to continuing the work of this story as the inspirations before me have been dedicated to theirs and bore, in different ways, a type of fruit. 

Life's troubles and struggles can often outweigh its joys.  We cling to what we know to be true. In this case, He who we know to be true. 

And just like that, they join the present.

   Its been a while.  Much busyness.  But yes, the conclusion of the snow story draws near.  This first moment here especially, is quite important.  Steady on....

A Crucial Moment

A crucial moment.  Ive found myself here too many times and its one of the reasons I wanna do Bunker Row.  I want CJ to represent many things about many readers but one thing that I really get to express through him is the anger, the frustration that comes in life. Its very real and I desire to express that struggle very much through this character.  Its also an outlet to express Gods Grace through Christ and the teaching process of learning to love others willingly even we are at the end of our rope emotionally.

I really wanna express the quickness and violence of the anger, the struggle to keep it contained and, as happens often, the guilt that follows afterward.  Its especially hard for CJ in this case, as you will you see later, because since his New Relationship with God , hes tried so hard to be 'good'.

Strips like this are why 'Bunker Row' exists.

 Ive got alot to learn too, CJ, hang in there buddy....
